After 23 years, we’ve had the privilege to share with you six albums and be in concert with our Eternal Tour for Guatemala, but we have also had the opportunity to visit Central America, the United States, Spain, and Mexico.
The disc “Casino” went on sale in 2009 and from October 2008, the song chosen as the spearhead, “Tremble the floor” was heard on the radios of Guatemala, Central America, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Mexico. In this fifth material they worked alongside the Gaitán brothers, winners of a Latin Grammy and responsible for the success of several productions of recognized artists such as Thalía and Gloria Estefan, among others.

Viento Contra was founded on June 14, 1996. It had its first presentation in Guatemala in La Boheme in 1996 (Ave. Las Américas) alternating with Influenza. They played for the first time on Radio Activa and Radio Fénix in 1996. Their first press release was published in 1996 in a free press. Their first concert in the interior was in the city of Quetzaltenango in 1996 at the Liceo Guatemala de Xela. Their first paid concert was also at Xela (Nightclub Stage) 1999. Their first video was recorded in 1998, it was I miss you and it was recorded in a house in zone 10. Their first international concert was in Costa Rica in 1998. The tour led through several bars in the cities of Alajuela, San José, and San Ramón, Costa Rica. Their first international interview was in Costa Rica in 1998, Radio 97.3 Connection and in the 2001 Pepsi Chart. In 1999 they were invited to participate in Guatemala for a Central American Rock festival (Honduras). His first distribution contract was with BMG Central America in 2000. Their first international media tour took place in Miami in 2001, and they visited media such as Telemundo, Univisión and radio stations such as Estéreo Amor. In March 2001, Viento en Contra was presented at the Tapachula Mexico International Fair 2001 with resounding success. Their video 20 Candelas was recorded in the foothills of thePoaz Volcano in Alajuela Costa Rica in June 2001. On June 20, 2001, their guitarist and founder Edgar Pereira died of an asthma attack in Miami after the recording of the Pepsi Music Chart. In 2002, they signed a sponsorship contract with Cervecería Centroamericana and its leading brand Gallo to perform rock Gallo concerts that are held to date. In 2002, they performed their first concert in the US in the city of Miami, in Señor Frogs of South Beach with a total number of Guatemalans, organized by the Guate2night.com website. The first video to be scheduled internationally was 20 Candelas in 2002 at Ritmoson Latino. Rojo Dress managed to sell more than 15 thousand copies since its departure in 2003, becoming the only active band in Guatemala with a gold record. Arañita Violin was their first hit internationally in 2004 and to date is a success in several Central American countries. (El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Honduras) The issue managed to be located on all the radio stations in El Salvador for 4 consecutive weeks, first in 2005. Their second video the in the programming of Ritmoson was Die for you I die without you and was made by Studio C. They traveled to Mexico in 2004 and were working in that country for 1 year in the offices of José Antonio Valencia, manager at the time of Ricardo Arjona. Mala Fama was recorded in 2004 at Morgan & Gray Studios, Mexico City, mixed and mastered in New York. In 2005 they return to Guatemala and perform more than 60 concerts in their 2005 Mala Fama Tour. In 2005 Viento en Contra is presented again at the International Fair of Tapachula Mexico, they also attend the International Fair of El Salvador, doing a concert tour in this country. In 2006, the HTV video channel broadcast a one-hour special with Viento en Contra called “En la mira”. In 2006, they signed a contract with Telefonías Tigo to carry out the Tigo Music concerts that have been held to date. Mala Fama reaches more than 7 thousand copies sold in Guatemala and El Salvador In the year 2006 Viento contra contra begins the pre-production of its new record material by the Gaitán Brothers. In the year 2007, the themes of the Casino disc are selected and the final production begins. Viento en Contra breaks the record of dates made in a year for a Guatemalan band in 2007, making 85 concerts in a year. Tremble the floor is the first issue scheduled by Telehit in 2008 and continues to rotate to date. The first single of Casino has come to occupy the first place of several radios nationally and internationally and held the position no. 2 of the official count of Telehit. His video was recorded in Mexico with the address of Paco Guerrero.
